I am a Christian and I DON'T VOTE....

Now that I have your attention, I want to explain why I don't vote, and also talk about the documentary film "180" recently put out by Living Waters, hosted by Ray Comfort. This video shows interview footage of many folks who do not even recognize the name of Adolf Hitler. Hitler, for those who missed the notes on a world war or two, was the zealous mouthpiece of the Nazi movement. Hitler's beliefs about Jews, mentally handicapped people, and everyone but those he deemed to be acceptable, caused the death of 11 million people by some of the most dreadful means known to modern history. Sadly, it was not just this maniac Hitler that caused such destruction, but millions of educated, seemingly intelligent people who were deceived into following,  funding, and putting into action these Satanic plans of genocide.

Ray Comfort in this video speaks of the Nazi's disdain for certain types of people, considering them to be less than human, and therefore making it acceptable to order mass murder of anyone in these subhuman groups. The abortion issue is brought into the spotlight in "180" comparing the sanctity of human life for the Jew or other less than perfect by Nazi standards, with that of the unborn child. Comfort explains the issue on camera to people, and encouraged those being interviewed to vote against abortion. It might seem to those who do not know Ray Comfort's work very well that he supposes that voting for pro-life politicians will change the minds of the populace and cause them to stop having, paying for, and providing abortions, also known as the government sanctioned murder of babies.

While Comfort does ask people to vote differently, this is surely not the main point of the film. I assume it is not the voting conservative or Christian public that is having the abortions, but I could be wrong. If it is those identifying themselves as Christians who are paying for or having abortions, then I would argue that they don't understand Christianity very well, as Jesus told us not to kill, or even be angry with our brother as the desire to sin is just as sinful as acting on said desires. Still, some have told me over the years that the likes of Jerry Falwell and the Moral Majority could have fixed our country if only Christians would have voted more.
I have an issue with this political fix to a heart issue.

You see, I have not voted in any election since about 2000, and I wonder if I had been wasting my time

Ministry update..... get a chair, it's kinda long!

We have now lived in McDonough for about 2 months. During that time, we have continued to be blessed with opportunity to minister in our home and also have some time to travel to visit churches we have worked with before.  We have the regular meetings of the church on Sunday afternoons starting at 4pm. We gather with the other Christians at the Scarbrough home for a meal. We then have a time of fellowship, teaching of God's Word, remembering the Lord Jesus Christ in the Lord's Supper, and often a men's study will conclude the night 4-5 hours later. This weekly gathering has become a great source of encouragement, challenge, and learning as we search the Scriptures and seek the leading of the Holy Spirit in our meetings.

We also get together on Wednesdays as a group to pray together and share what the Lord has been doing in our lives in the interim. We are happy to report that often the prayer requests don't need to be spoken, as the group is very close and in constant contact throughout the week visiting, praying together, and having fellowship with one another.  Sara meets weekly with one of the younger Christian sisters in a one-to-one for the purpose of edifying one another and searching out the Biblical pattern for wives and mothers. This has been a great blessing to Sara, and we hope to have more opportunities as the days go by for this type of ministry. Mark spends a few hours with some of the brothers weekly as schedule allows. These times of discussion, prayer, and study of God's Word have proved to be quite encouraging to Mark, and have helped us get to know the saints here locally. Between all this and correspondence, phone calls, emails, and teaching our family, we are all pretty busy, but a good kind of busy.

In recent weeks, we have discussed at length many important issues as a new church, and we have been blessed by the time with all of the Christians we know in the area. We have a weekly Bible study in our home with a local woman who was initially contacted almost 2 years ago when the Good News on the Move (GNOM) team was here. We just started going through the Gospel of Mark together, with a verse by verse discussion of the message of the Gospel and the teachings of Jesus.

"In my seat" Video

This brother in Christ, Steve Scheibner, shares his story. A pilot for American Airlines, he was scheduled to fly on flight 11 on September 11, 2001. See how his heart stirring story shares the Gospel. Many may not be willing to listen to the Gospel, but would watch this 15 minutes video about the day America was attacked by Muslim terrorists. I hope this video reminds us all that we have today to serve God and make the Gospel known. We are not promised tomorrow, so let us live in gratitude and obedience to the Savior who bought us with His precious blood.
