Settling into our new home in McDonough, Georgia

We would like to apologize for the lack of correspondence as of late. This one will be a long one, but lots of information about the work in Georgia is below. If you already heard about the trip, then go ahead and skip down to the section of the work in Georgia. Sorry again for being late...and long-winded. ~Mark

Travel-
This past two months we have left our house in the Floriday Keys, spent 3 weeks in Miramar, FL, staying at the Hood family home. We spent our time visiting the Christians at Bible Truth Chapel in Miami, Boulevard Bible Chapel in Pembroke Pines, Fort Lauderdale Bible Chapel, and Boca Raton Bible Chapel. We had great times of fellowship, Bible study, and learning from the teachers the Lord gave us along the way.

We were especially blessed in our time in Miramar with the fellowship of many families who had labored with us in Key West, the Fritchey, Stafford, Gomez, Jiminez, and Bosworth families. We are so blessed! We also had meals with so many people that the list would take up whole pages... really!!!

Mark and Sara both had a few opportunities to speak in a few venues to encourage and challenge the Christians from God's Word. This was a welcome time of refreshing and time as a family which we had been missing with all the busyness of the work in Key West.

We then traveled on to Tampa, FL to visit some friends, visit the saints at Carrolwood Bible Chapel, and to see Mark's brother and his family. We stayed with the Campbell family, which was a great blessing, an encouraging time of fellowship. We also had a meal with the Gentile and DeMelo families while in Tampa. From there we headed north to spend a week in McDonough, GA, where we stayed with the Scarbroughs, found a house to rent, and got to spend some time with the people we will be working with this coming year(or more)in the local church. We had times of food, fun, and fellowship with the Amos and Henderson families here. We are so blessed that God has given us the privilege of laboring alongside these wonderful Christian brothers and sisters!

After this tour of Florida and Georgia, we headed to Savannah, GA
(graciously accompanied by the Scarbrough and Amos families) to catch the Amtrak headed for Maine, where we spent the next 4 weeks visiting with Mark and Sara's family. Our time in Maine brought 7 speaking engagements for Mark to share from God's Word, along with many opportunities to visit the saints from 9 area churches. We were especially blessed to witness the baptism of 11 people at the Labor Day weekend camp meetings of one area church.

The Lord provided opportunity for our family to minister to many other families who we have known for years, to provide counsel and instruction, to be blessed by the wisdom others have learned from the Lord. We got to meet some new friends, and shared the Gospel in various situations, and we trust the Lord will provide His fruit in His season. It is such a privilege to proclaim the good news of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ. We had many folks share with us the good things the Lord is doing in their lives, to build them up, challenge them, and mold them into the image of our glorious Savior. We are truly blessed.

The work in Georgia-
Now we have settled into our new home at 127 Brannan Road in McDonough, Georgia. This large house was prayed for earnestly, as we sought the Lord's leading in the place we would live for at least the next year. The work of the Lord here in McDonough is alive and well, and specifically we are now working with the Christians who gather at the home of Gerald and Pamela Scarbrough. This couple, with their 3 children, have sought to obey the pattern of the New Testament church, searching God's Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit, to show us all things pertaining to the local church.

There are 4 other families meeting regularly here. The Amos, Henderson, and Martinez families have been meeting together at the Scarbrough home for some time now, with some folks moving here specifically as led by the Lord, wanting to be part of this new church that God has planted. Adding our family into the local body, along with a new family that has been coming regularly to worship and hear teaching, breaking bread, praying, and having fellowship, we can truly see the Lord at work to build His church here in McDonough.

You may recall our family mentioning the Scarbrough's and McDonough in times past, as we were here in November of 2009 with Good News on the Move (team 5), and have been blessed to visit here 2 or 3 times since for a week or so at a time. We are excited to see what God is doing here in the hearts and lives of His people, to draw them closer to Himself, to study His Word and put it into practice in not only the meetings of the church, but daily life in our families and individually.

We will be working with the local saints in the areas of discipleship, teaching, evangelism, and whatever else the Lord allows us to serve Him through. Our family is especially happy to have a place of our own, large and close enough to the local saints to share meals, meet for study and prayer, and much more. The kids have a large yard to play in, a safe place to ride their bikes and such, and a swing in the big tree out front, too!

Nathaniel and Mark took an hour or so yesterday to explore the woods around our home. This rental house sits on 12 acres that are mostly wooded, and we were excited to find a few trails to walk, care for, and share with friends. We sat at our table having lunch the other day and watched a baby deer in our back yard for over an hour, another reminder of God's creation and His watch care over all things. Truly, we are blessed to have this new home, and we give God all the thanks and praise for His provision.

We have seen the Lord's faithfulness in providing our needs, keeping us safe as we seek to do His will, and in opening the door for this new church, a local testimony to His name. We have plans for some folks to come and visit us this fall, along with two 5-day trips to Hinton, WV to labor in the Gospel with the saints at Riverview Chapel. We will be out Saturday door to door with the message of salvation, meeting with the saints on Sunday, and having Gospel meetings on Monday and Tuesday. These trips will be on October 21-25 and November 25-29. Please keep these times of outreach in prayer as we seek to plant the seed of the Word of God, water seeds already planted, and wait on the Lord to provide fruit in His time, according to His will. What a privilege to be ambassadors for the Lord Jesus Christ. What a Savior!
