The next chapter of ministry

The last month has been a whirlwind of activity for our family. We left our house in the Florida Keys just 3 weeks ago for Miramar, Florida. Tim and Linda Hood graciously offered use of their condominium for our stay in the area, and we were busy every day with meetings, times of fellowship and studying God's Word with prayer. It was such a blessed time of rest and recuperation. The times of fellowship with so many families who have been praying with us helped recharge us and gave us additional insight on how the Lord "works all things together for good, to those who love Him, to those who are called according to His purpose."

From Miramar, we headed West to Tampa area, where we were greeted by the gracious hospitality of Conrad and Rachel Campbell. Our weekend in Tampa was a great time of fellowship with the Campbells and also many of the other area Christians we have come to know in our travels. We enjoyed catching up with the saints gathered at Carrollwood Bible Chapel, and Mark was able to spend a day with his brother, Wesley and his family who also live in north Tampa area.

Our time in South Florida gave us opportunity to share teaching and encouragement in settings varying from family meals, ladies meetings, teaching, and more. The many miles we traveled were used to work as a family on memorization of God's Word, singing and teaching our children the practical side of these Biblical truths. We have found that no matter if we are at home, on the road, or whatever we do, there is always opportunity to train our children while we rise up, when we walk by the way(or drive on the interstate), and in every situation we learn if we are focused on God's wisdom.

We finally arrived in McDonough, Georgia 2 days ago, at the home of Gerald and Pamela Scarbrough. This family has started meeting in their home to seek God's direction in every aspect of the local church. They have been meeting with 4 or 5 other families and we are excited to see the pattern of the New Testament church so carefully searched out. We have been so blessed to meet some of these local Christians and will meet the rest in the next few days, Lord willing. We are learning together more about what God has planned for the church as we prayerfully consider how we ought to live each day as part of the local church and the universal body of Christ. What a privilege to serve the Lord, to get to know other Christians, and to labor together with each member fulfilling their calling and using their gifts to the glory of God and the edification of the group.

We are currently in the process of finding a new home in the McDonough area. We have looked at one house that would suit our needs quite nicely, and are searching and praying about other opportunities. We are finding peace in waiting on the Lord to open the doors He would have us go through for this next step of our family ministry, and though we can't see the future, we can trust Him who holds the future and guides each step along the way.

We are only here for a week this round, with a 4 week trip to Maine upcoming August 16-September 13. After the trip to Maine, we do plan to settle in McDonough for the foreseeable future, Lord willing. Our trip to Maine is already packed for the weekends, with church meetings, fellowship times, and ministry of varied aspects. We have some plans to share meals with our friends and family in Maine, but if you would like to get together with us, please call us at (207)-542-8916 or email cowperthwaitefamily@gmail.com to schedule a time to get together. We thank the Lord for the opportunity to go "home" to Maine for a while, and we look forward to all we will learn and hear from our brothers and sisters in Christ along the way, sharing God's wisdom and laboring together for His glory.

Our mailing address for the time being has shifted back to Sara's parents, who are so helpful in taking care of mail and such things that are hard to keep track of while we travel. Their address is 12 Emery Avenue, Thomaston, Maine 04861. We will have email and phone access for most of our travel time, so feel free to give a call or email. We love to hear from you all, to hear what the Lord is doing in your homes and churches. What a privilege it is to be part of the body of Christ, to be called by His name, to speak truth and life, grace and salvation in His name!

Sermon July 31 Fort Lauderdale Bible Chapel

The message texts were Numbers 13 and 14, Haggai 1. God had spoken, He had promised the victory to the children of Israel so that they could go into the Promised Land. However, the disobedience and lack of faith in God prevented that generation from claiming that promise. What promises has God given us that we are too fearful or unbelieving to fulfill?
