Pictures and "images resembling men and creatures"

We have to thank our many friend/photographers for capturing our "good side" often, giving  us updated pictures of the kids and even us to share with others. You can view our family pictures at this link, Cowperthwaite family Picasa albums.

Sara Hemphill , Pamela Scarbrough, Holly Ames-Allan, and a few others have been patient enough to take pictures for us, and we so appreciate it. Getting 4 children to stand still, smile, and avoid picking their nose for a moment to pose for a picture is a bit of work, as any of you with children know.

Mark takes many of the other pictures in our albums, as we travel around we have had some beautiful displays of God's creative handiwork captured on our camera. Still, just a picture could never convey all the color and sense of awe that creation holds.

A dear friend and brother in Christ is in the hospital right now for the second time in a week dealing with atrial fibrillation. Todd is not only a good friend, but an excellent photographer. He seems to have a sixth sense for light and color, and can capture things in a way I have never seen before. This is a talent from God that has provided for his family for years.

Todd is now unable to work and we are praying that God brings him back to a full measure of health so that Todd can continue to serve the Lord as a husband, father, brother, teacher, and ambassador for Jesus Christ. Please keep Todd in your prayers. We will update when we know more, but it seems his family will be dealing with the complications of this health problem for months or years.

We have today to live for the Lord, and with whatever health and strength, money and time, we want to bring glory and honor to our Savior's name. Next time you take a picture, think of all God has done for you. God has given you life, the ability to see, to appreciate beauty, and to see His creative power. Read Romans 1:19-32 from which this quotation comes:

" For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been
clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.
So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or
give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts
were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory
of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and
birds and animals and creeping things. "

Have you exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man or creatures rather than the Creator? Take a fresh look today and renew your passion for God, thank Him for all He has done for you. And while you are at it, say a prayer for my friend Todd and his family.
